There’s plenty of good reasons to visit Hervey Bay. If you are lucky enough to be visiting Fraser Island during whale season, you can book a whale watching and Fraser Island tour package and are virtually guaranteed to see a whale up close. Hervey Bay is a big town, but very quiet compared to Noosa, so we don’t usually recommend spending more than one or two nights in Hervey Bay. It does, however, offer some excellent accommodation options.[vc_gallery type=”image_grid” images=”1870,1874″]Pamper yourself at Flashpackers Hervey Bay
We love the original Flashpackers in Noosa, but the Hervey Bay branch of this luxury backpackers is even more, well, flash. From the en-suite rooms and resort-style pool, to the giant kitchen and common area, this is as good as backpacking in Australia gets.
Chill out at Woolshed Backpackers Hervey Bay
Another laid-back, relaxing backpackers where you can take it easy the night before or after your Fraser Island tour, Woolshed Backpackers Hervey Bay is located more centrally. Its charms are more rustic and there is a wider range of rooms to choose from, so even those on the tightest budget can afford to start their Fraser Coast adventure in style.
Socialise at Hervey Bay YHA
The Hervey Bay YHA is the only recommended backpackers that offers a licensed bar on the premises. If you are a YHA member, this may work out as the cheapest option. One thing that’s in plentiful supply in Hervey Bay is space, so once again, you can enjoy spacious rooms, an enormous pool and large common area, including a games room.?
