Thankfully, it doesn’t happen too often, but every now and then, someone will ask us “is there free WiFi on Fraser Island?” We understand that nowadays, staying connected is an integral part of travelling and for many people, going online at least once a day is practically essential. On the other hand, there’s those who need to be contactable in case of a work emergency or because they are expecting an urgent email.
Whatever your reasons for wanting to go online, unfortunately the simple answer is: if you are coming to Fraser Island on a Drop Bear camping trip, there is no WiFi, free or otherwise… and that’s the way we like i! There’s no better place in the world to unwind, relax and get away from it all. It is, after all, an island paradise, why would you want to ruin it with a *bleep* reminding you that you’ve got mail?
However, if you absolutely must get online during your trip to Fraser Island, we can only recommend you get a Telstra prepaid card, which will give you 3G reception on most of the tour, particularly in our beach camp, meaning you can check your emails over dinner and update your Facebook status at breakfast. Actually, scratch that – that would be rude, and anyway, you’ll be too busy having fun!
If you are making your own way to Fraser Island, there are several hotels and guest houses that offer free WiFi on Fraser Island, but of course that means missing out on all the camping fun ? Instead, make use of the free WiFi in Noosa before the start of the tour – and enjoy being offline for 3 days!
