We’ve already shared our favourite things to do and see in Noosa at a cost, but if you’re on a budget (or you’ve done all the other stuff already and are thirsty for more ;)), the following free things to do in Noosa are pretty awesome, too! Enjoy…[vc_column width=”1/4″][vc_gallery type=”image_grid” images=”1914″][vc_column width=”3/4″]Walking in Noosa National Park
Noosa isn’t just surrounded by excellent national parks, there’s one right IN Noosa, offering some great walks, beautiful scenery and lots of wildlife. Make sure you plan a full day for this and bring a picknick, swimming gear and of course your camera.
Mangrove Boardwalk at Lake Weyba
Less well known is Lake Weyba (pretty amazing given its size) and the excellent educational mangrove boardwalk on its shores. There is endless controversy about development proposals for this area, so visit it while you can – you never know when the property developers will get their way…
Free live music
Noosa is known for its excellent live music scene and there’s always a free gig going on somewhere, either in the bars around town or at small open air festivals in the area. Check out Visit Noosa for weekly listings.[vc_column width=”1/4″][vc_gallery type=”image_grid” images=”1918″][vc_column width=”3/4″]Go surfing
Learning to surf in Noosa isn’t free, but – provided you bring your own board – the waves don’t cost a thing. Most hostels in Noosa offer free surf boards and boogie boards. Click the link above to find the best surf beach for your ability.[vc_column width=”1/4″][vc_gallery type=”image_grid” images=”1922″][vc_column width=”3/4″]Go fishing
Again, this is obviously only free if you have your own equipment, but if you pick up a cheap fishing rod and then catch a fish for dinner with it, the rod has paid for itself! Alternatively, you could dig up some pippies (or wongs, as Mark likes to call them) on the beach. If you’ve been on our tour, you’ll know how to find them ?
Have a free BBQ on the beach
One of our favourite things about travelling Australia are the free gas BBQs on beaches, in parks and at roadside rest areas. Maybe you can fry up that fish you caught earlier? Our favourite free BBQ spots are on the Noosa River foreshore along Gympie Terrace and in the park behind the Sunshine Beach Surf Lifesaving Club. Alternatively, use the nifty search engine linked above to find your ideal BBQ spot.
