For us, camping on Fraser Island is the best way to fully embrace island life, just like the locals, who flock to Fraser Island for a few days of fishing, exploring and beachside camping at every opportunity. At Drop Bear Adventures, we pride ourselves on offering the most authentic Fraser Island camping tours out there. Thanks to the amazing camping spots behind the foredunes on 75-Mile Beach, that means you get million-dollar views on a backpacker budget. If you stumble out of your tent early enough, you might get treated to a sunrise like this:[vc_gallery type=”image_grid” images=”4382″ img_size=”847×400″]However, on Fraser Island authentic also means: basic! Camping is permitted in certain sections of the Great Sandy National Park, but there are no facilities – no running water, no electricity, no permanent structures whatsoever. Of course that doesn’t mean you have to rough it when you join our camping tours. It takes a lot of preparation, but we can offer you all the comforts you need. Take a tour of our Fraser Island camp site, guided by our camp mascot Ted…
All our Fraser Island camping tours include the following:[vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/4″][vc_gallery type=”image_grid” images=”4386″][/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=”3/4″]
- Tents
2 people sharing a 3-person tent, so you have plenty of space. Yes, you have to put up your own tent, but that’s part of the fun ? Depending on the season, we can sometimes arrange a single tent if you are travelling solo and prefer not to share.
- Mats, sleeping bags, pillows, sheets
You’ll be comfy in your tents with self-inflating mats, sheets, sleeping bags and even pillows.
- Toilet
We have a basic camping toilet, which is mainly used at night and in the mornings. While we are out and about during the day, there are several opportunities to use “proper” toilets – one of them even flushes!
- Shower
Don’t say we don’t spoil you! If you’re feeling a bit grubby, we can fire up the heated power shower and you’ll be good as new in no time. As we swim in fresh water several times each day, you might not even feel the need for a shower, though.
- Kitchen
This is where our hungry guests get fed (and trust us, come dinner time, they are always hungry!) The camp kitchen is equipped with two BBQs, where we cook delicious, fresh food every night – and serve breakfast in the morning.
- Covered camp common area
In case it rains, we can hang out under the tarpaulin, but more often than not, after dinner we’ll head down to the beach to stargaze, make some music or try to find some magic sand 🙂 You’ll definitely be glad to be camping on the beach, in one of the most beautiful spots on Fraser Island…
